O'Neil and
Roberts Snag Snowstorm Wins Steve
O'Neil took advantage of the absence of his nemesis Carlos Rivera and captured his first
Snowstorm Classic win this season. The CMS master took the early lead with the Athlete
Foot's Mike Owens, and the two toured the first eight kilometers side by side before the
veteran shifted gears and broke free for a comfortable 37:08 victory. Owens held second in
37:41 to fend off the closing Paul Fratini (37:58).
Smooth striding Dawn Roberts took women's honors in 45:21 followed by Heather
Wenninger (46:05) and Betty Quinn (49:20). With the temperature in the teens and an
inch of fresh snow on the course, fast times were on hold for this week.
