Hernandez and Webber in the
Snow.
How appropriate, the final Snowstorm Classic of the century was held in the midst of the last
snowstorm of the century. The snow, which started to fall at around 9am, was sufficient to
just cover any ice that remained on the course. This made for some really slick footing
and many came close to falling on more than one occasion.
Celio Hernandez took the men's title in a very
creditable 40:29 and in so doing also garnered the masters division. Latest 'Harrier',
Jason Reed took second with Art Roberts running a crafty safe race to finish third.
Richard Clark and fourteen year old David Estabrook rounded out the top five.
In the women's race it was Carolyn Webber who took the
laurels followed by Harrier, Betsy Duquette. In third place was none other than Kathy
Colwell. Kathy and Scott are headed back to Ohio early next week, but for many of us it
sure nice to see them again.
In all 48 brave souls (though considering the weather other
words come to mind) tackled the course. Happy New Year to All.
