Déjà
Vu: Carlos Rivera and Kelly Heroux Win
It
was another stroll in Forest Park for Carlos Rivera and Kelly Heroux
as the two speedy Harriers repeated their winning ways, this time on
the 5K course.
Warmer weather ballooned the number of runners for the Mardi
Gras themed race but Carlos and Kelly were not distracted by the
festivities as they both charged to an early lead and were never
seriously challenged.
Carlos
earned his 4th win of the season with a smooth striding
18:05 effort. His 30 career
Snowstorm
Classic victories leaves him only two shy of surpassing all time
leader Dave Hanechak, with three races remaining this season.
Meanwhile teammates John Cote and Vincente Rojas led the rest
of the field as Harriers again swept the elder age divisions.
John clocked 19:04 for 2nd and the master (over 40)
title while Vincente placed 3rd overall with an impressive
19:16 to win the senior (over 50) crown.
For the umpteenth week Art Roberts was the lead veteran (over
60), this time with a solid 21:16.
Tim Dannay was the first junior (under 20) in 20:40.
Kelly
sprinted away from the women’s field early, in fact she challenged
John and Vincente for most of the race.
Her blistering early pace resulted in a season leading 19:38
and an overall 4th place finish, while earning her 6th
win of the season and 8th lifetime crown.
Newcomer Elaine Skawski ran a credible 22:30 for 2nd
place while Colleen Cummings took 3rd in 23:24.
First junior Hillary Scheppes took it easy on her Dad in 23:36
while Kathy Lynch in 25:08 and Ellen Bellicchi in 25:59 won the master
and senior divisions respectively for the home team.
Sue Grant repeated as winner of the veterans division with a
27:33 Sugarloaf Mountain effort.
