HARRIER'S BROWN AND ROSS WIN

Stan Kolpa of Vermont and the Red Clover Rovers running club would ordinarily have bragging rights to having traveled the farthest to run a Summer Sizzler,  but not today. That distinction belongs to Amadou Talla
from Senegal, West Africa, several thousand miles from Springfield's Forest Park.
The winner however didn't even drive to the race as Dee Brown (18:47) warmed up by jogging from his nearby apartment.  Dee sliced almost a minute off his initial effort on the challenging cross country course, and held off Celio Hernandez (19:08) for his first Sizzler blue ribbon.  Dave Soule (20:41) was third.
Steadily improving Kristine Ross (21:17) took women's honors over teammates Kate Butler (25:54) and Rebecca Brown (28:06).
