Gauvin Cruises With The Heat Off

    After nearly two weeks of a brutal heat wave, cooler and dryer weather greeted the Summer Sizzler faithful in Forest Park. The Harrier cross country course provided the setting for a Springfield College reunion of sorts, as a trio of SC alumni captured three of the top five places. Mike Gauvin (18:48) won his first Summer Sizzler race, outlegging fellow SC alumni Brian Walsh (19:13) and Bryan Brown (20:47). Sixteen year old James Lamoureux (19:27) and forty-five year old John Bigos (20:30) impressed with division wins.
    Heather Wenninger (21:33) and Kate Knowles (22:24) were 1st and 2nd in both the open and junior categories, with Madeline Nagy (23:28) a game third amongst the women. Karen Knowles (28:28) took master’s honors.
