Deja vu: Carlos Rivera and Elizabeth Duquette
"The more things change, the more they remain the same."
It didn’t take long for Carlos Rivera and Elizabeth Duquette to
add to their Hall of Fame leading win totals. The second race of the
season to be precise.
On a downright cold, breezy April evening (with more then one pundit
suggesting the start be moved to the Skate House by Porter Lake)
Carlos cruised over the 8K course in 28:04 to register his 43rd
lifetime Summer Sizzler victory. Brent Fisher outlegged the rest of
the field in 30:06 for 2nd (promptly signing up for
future Harrier adventures) while Tim Brown captured both the master
and senior titles with a 3rd place 30:19.
Elizabeth worked harder for her 37th Summer Sizzler
victory, rambling around the Forest Park roads in 35:24 to
eventually pull away from a determined Kristin Ashe (36:03) and
Kathy Lynch (36:09).
Meanwhile Doug Blanchard added another notch to his gun with a 48:29
effort, a new standard for 77 year old men and the Champ’s tenth
age record on the 8K course.
