Scott Sutter Earns # 3, Mary Ferraro Wins # 8

Art Roberts Topples Doug’s Oldest Mark
Scott Sutter tested his
mettle on the infamous Harrier cross country course for the first
time this year, resulting in his third Sizzler win of the season. On
a warm and humid evening, The Citadel alumnus
scrampled up and down the wooded trails of Forest Park in a
convincing 19:02. GSH teammate Brian Walsh raced over hill and
dale in 19:58 for a solo 2nd place.
Mary
Ferraro remained undefeated on the turf this year among women with
another impressive performance, a 21:28 effort good for 3rd
place overall and her 8th Summer Sizzler victory this
season, including now 5 in a row. Kathy Lynch was 2nd in
24:19 while edging Elizabeth Duquette (24:48) for master’s
honors.
Senior Harrier ace Art
Roberts chased Mary for five thousand meters in 21:35 to capture the
men’s master and senior titles. As a result, and with
decidedly mixed emotions, he broke the record for 59 year old men of
22:24 set by Doug Blanchard eighteen years ago, Doug’s oldest
Summer Sizzler record and one of the longest standing Sizzler
marks.
