Paul Fratini Returns; Mary Ferraro Wins #9
A picture perfect summer day greeted Barney Day winner Paul Fratini
as he returned to Forest Park for his second Summer Sizzler of the
season. The speedy Harrier promptly outdistance the field by zipping
27:39 over the 8K road course, thereby making it two for two, and
climbing into 12th place on the Hall of Fame list.
Teammate Brian Walsh placed 2nd by running for exactly
half an hour as the ultra fast half miler continues to round back
into shape.
Mary Ferraro continued her banner season, placing 3rd
overall this week in 32:23 for her ninth Sizzler women’s crown
this year. Steadily improving Kristin Ashe ran 35:14 for 2nd
, edging master’s winner Elizabeth Duquette who crossed the line
in 35:19.
Harrier Art Roberts took the men’s master and
senior titles with a steady 32:54. Of note, the youngest
runner was 24 years old, continuing the growing trend of older
runners dominating the road racing scene in recent years.
