Elvin Torres is Back; Kelly Heroux Wins Her Sixth

Since joining the master ranks Elvin Torres has rediscoved his youthful speed.  The 40 year old Harrier won his first Summer Sizzler in nearly twenty years with a solid 31:17 effort on the 8K road course on a warm summer evening.  He also becomes the ninth different winner for the nine Summer Sizzlers held this so far this year.  Last week’s winner Jason Hewitt chased Elvin around the Forest Park roads in 32:46 to place second, just ahead of GSHer Eric Brown (32:54).  Joe Ricci (33:17) was the first junior while helpful Harrier Brian Goddu (37:36) was the first senior.

Kelly Heroux churned around Forest Park in 34:35 to make it five wins in a row and six so far this year for the women.  After joining the Hall of Fame with her first win on Barney Day April 19th, the speedy Harrier has climbed into a tie for 12th place on the all time win list.  Kim Buescher finished second in 37:04 while GSHer Colleen Cumming was third in 38:21.
