Déjà Vu: Carlos Rivera and Kelly Heroux

On a typical New England summer evening, ie, warm, humid, calm, and partly cloudy, Carlos Rivera gained his third win of the season, and 48th lifetime, with a comfortable 29:17 outing around Forest Park. Brent Coon gave chase in 30:33 to outdistance the rest of the field for second, and Daniel Smith took third in 32:05. Once again a GSH senior, this time Bill Martin, won both the master and senior divisions with a solid 32:15 clocking, good for fourth place overall. Fourteen year old Andrew Lee was the first junior in 33:25 while Art Roberts celebrated his entry into the veterans division with a winning 34:05.
Meanwhile Kelly Heroux notched her ninth Summer Sizzler crown this year as she covered the eight thousand meter course in a respectable 33:01. It was a good day for fourteen year olds as Rebecca Engell placed second among the women in 35:56 while also winning the junior girls division. Laura Fontaine took the bronze medal in 36:16.
