A new Harrier tradition started
today with the race starting on
time.
Prior to the start of the race Brian Goddu gave the ceremonial Everett Barney speech to the race
participants, leaving them speechless and educated about Everett
Barney.
Everett Barney was smiling down on
the 25 participants at the 27th Annual Summer Sizzlers
opening race. The sun was shining the temperature was 72 degrees with
a bit of a head wind and no humidity. The wind did not seem to slow
down first place finisher and first master Ron
Jacobs (28:13) followed by harrier and first female Mary
Ferraro (31:37) breezing in third was fellow harrier and senior
team member Seth Roberts
(32:35). Harrier Joe Fois
(33:08) was fourth overall followed by first veteran and harrier Art
Roberts (35:35). HTC member
Melany Westwell (38:01)
placed second amongst the women followed by EORC’s Deb
Williams (38:35). Thirteen year old Brandon
Behak (42:00) was the first junior male out kicking his older
brother Dave Behak (42:02).
A special thank you to Brian
Goddu, Ed Carroll and Brian
Gibbons for helping out and offering their race directing
expertise.
