GUYS NIGHT
It was a warm day and a cool front was heading
in, but first the fierce storms came through the state with tornado
warnings until 8:00 p.m. The 12 brave souls who showed up for
tonight’s race were all men. The course was marked earlier in the
day but the torrential rains washed away any flour markings that
Steve O’Neil had provided. The course was wet and muddy so it
looked like no records would be broken.
Harrier Joe Fois was the first one to
emerge from the cross country course with a winning time of 20:26
followed by first junior Kevin Clark (20:30) and coming in
third was first senior harrier Steve O’Neil (22:06). First
master was Doug Cummings (24:18) who helped a first time
course runner find his way through the unmarked course. First
veteran was SMACer Don Grant (36:43).
Tonight’s predicted time winner was Steve
O’Neil, Steve was off by only 4 seconds
A special thank you to Steve O’Neil, Barbara
Bosworth, Pete Stasz and Bruce Kurtz for helping out with
so many aspects of this evening’s race.
