TWO AGE RECORDS FALL
It was a nice evening, a little on the warm
side but who could of imagined that not one but two age records
would fall tonight. The first age record to fall was the 62 year old
male record held by Doug Blanchard (22:34). Our very own harrier and
first veteran Art Roberts pushing all the way through the
finish in all 2’s 22:22 to place his name on the 62 year age record.
And not far behind Art was Harrier Roland Cormier who smashed
the 67 year age record held by Doug Blanchard taking 1:19 off the
record. Way to go guys!
Tonight’s overall first place finisher harrier
Joe Hegarty came flying through the finish in 18:49. Second
place harrier Joe Fois (19:31) with four summer sizzler wins
under his belt so far this year followed by 19 year old and first
junior male Ryan Byrne (21:39). First female was harrier
Meaghan Mathews (21:55) who is running super and makes it look
too easy. First male master was Doug Cummings (22:57) and
Doug was tonight’s predicted time winner, he was only off by 3
seconds. First female master was harrier Barbara Bosworth
(26:03) who is always willing to help out, thanks Barbara. First
male senior was harrier Steve O’Neil (24:01) who stopped to
tie his shoe during the race. First female senior was harrier
Elizabeth Goode (28:45), it was nice seeing Elizabeth at the
Summer Sizzlers. First female junior was 15 year old harrier
Megan Randall (26:53) who took almost two minutes off her
predicted time.
Special recognition goes out to harrier Ed
Carroll (25:53) who just completed and set his 3rd PR
this spring completing his 3rd marathon in the past
month. And he was competing in tonight’s race only 3 days after
running the Vermont Cities marathon.
And a round of applause goes out to harrier
Terry Gilsinger (39:44) who finished over 5 minutes ahead of her
predicted time of 45:00. It was Terry’s first attempt at the tough
5K course and she pushed it right to the end.
Great job and keep up the good work Ed and
Terry!!!
A special thank you to Meghan Lynch, Ed &
Julie Carroll, Colleen Cummings and Bruce Kurtz for
helping out and keeping things running smooth.
