SUMMER SIZZLER OR FALL TIME CLASSIC

It was a cool evening only 62 degrees at race time. The jackets were on the spectators, did summer just pass us by?  Of course not, it is New England and anything can happen weather wise. Look at the Snowstorm Classic from this past winter, it was warmer than this evening. Would any of the long standing age records be broken tonight? The 44 race participants lined up at the starting line and at 6:36 they were off and running towards the rose garden to get to the other side of Forest Park.

Male master harrier Paul Fratini was going after the age 42 record and it was too close to mention that he missed it by only 4 seconds. Paul ran a fantastic first place time of 26:41. Harrier Joe Fois who also has been running really well lately came in second with a time of 28:12 with fellow harrier Joe Hegarty who came in third with a time of 28:13. First male senior harrier was Rich Clark with a time of 31:09 and taking the number 5 spot and first female overall was harrier Meaghan Mathews with a time of 31:26. Second female was harrier Kelly Joyce (34:19) followed by harrier Meghan Lynch (34.31). First female master was harrier Barbara Bosworth (37:50). First male veteran was EORC’s Dan Lynes (42:27). First junior male was 18 year old David Miller with a time of 36:21 and first junior female was 17 year old Felicia Cordero coming through the finish with a time of 44:10.

Tonight’s predicted time winner was Jim Liebel who guessed his 39:30 time exactly.

A special thank you to Meghan Lynch, Ed, Julie & Bill Carroll, Pete Stasz and Bruce Kurtz for helping out with so many of this evening’s tasks.
