Race Report:
by Mike Lescarbeau, Race DirectorThreatening skies cleared
up just in time to let the sun shine down on the Summer Sizzler 5K
cross-country race, the 6th race of the season. Sunshine and smiles
were abundant as the 25 gave an applause to our two birthday girls for
the evening; Julia Cummings (age 11) and Julie Carroll (age 15). Once
the crowd settled down the opening bell was rung signaling the start
of the race.
Right out of the shoot it is was GSH’s Daniel Krasemann
leading the field around the first corner with EORC’s Joni
Beauvais right on his heels. Joni put up a good fight but
Daniel was just too strong. Daniel would pull away in the woods and
run to victory in 20:18. The victory was Daniel’s second of the year
and second of his career. Joni wound up finishing in second place
overall and first female with a time of 22:26. The win was Joni’s
first career Sizzler victory, earning her a spot in the hall of fame.
Third place overall went to longtime GSH Steve O’Neil in
22:56.
Age group winners for the men were Daniel in the Youth (0-19)
division, GSH regular Dan McNair was first Open
(20-39) male in 24:08, EORC’s Dave Gallager was first
Master (40-49) in 27:41, Steve O’Neil was first
Veteran (60-69) and Don Grant of SMAC was top 70+
with a time of 36:48.
Female age group winners were GSH’s Julie Carroll
taking top Youth in 23:08, Joni was first Open female, EARC’s
Jennifer Miller placed first in the Master division in 31:38
and SS’s Vicki Quagliaroli was top Veteran in 35:10.

Thanks to all the runners, volunteers and spectators.
