58th Annual - Sunday October 4th, 2020
September 11th, 2020
It is with a heavy heart, and I'm sure no big surprise, that this year's marathon cannot be held as planned. The race committee has decided it is not possible to conduct the race in any format that will be safe for both the participant and volunteers while also not placing undue burden and liability to all parties involved.
Refunds will be issued next week.
In the upcoming week, there will be communication about a virtual marathon event similar to what we did for our Fourth of July 5K. Runners can run their virtual marathon on any course they choose between now and October 20th and submit their time using a Garmin, Strava, or other GPS device and receive a shirt that will be ordered after the October 20th event close date. The price of the virtual event will be $20.
Anyone wishing to either defer a portion of their refund towards the virtual event or do a full deferment towards next year’s event can let me know by September 19th before we start issuing the refunds. A full refund will be issued if the 2021 event is also canceled.
