60th Year! One of the longest running marathons in the country!

History

The Race of Champions Marathon is held in memory of Walter H. Childs Sr., the founder of the race who died in 1991.
The race served as the AAU National Championships and was the Pan American qualifier in the late 60's
Nearly 60 years later it is one of the oldest running marathons in the United States and the world.

Registration opens Jan 17th


Full: $70.00, $80.00 after April 7th
Half: $40.00, $50.00 after April 7th

Course

The course is USATF sanctioned event, certified course, and Boston Marathon Qualifier.
The course is a six equal loops around scenic Ashley Reservoir which is a packed dirt & gravel mixture.
In early May the course can vary between dry & firm, a bit of loose gravel mix, or a bit muddy.
USATF Course Certification #MA200003JK MAP    [COURSE LAYOUT WITH ELEAVATION] The Half Marathon will start at the same time and follow the same course - just half the loops!

Race Day sign-in is at the Holyoke Elks Lodge, 250 Whitney Ave, Holyoke, MA 01040 Map
Plenty of parking available at the Elks.
The race start and finishes just steps away from the Elks parking area.


No Early Number Pick-up - Race Day only 7am Elks Lower Level

Prizes for Top 3 in the Marathon & Half-Marathon TBA.

Lodging

There are many motels in the area, particularly on Route 5, Exit 13 off I-91 in West Springfield. Including: Days' Inn (413-785-5365), Red Roof Inn (413-731-1010), Clarion (413-781-8750). In addition the America's Best Value Inn, 671 Northampton Ave. (413 536-3377), Holyoke Hotel & Conference Center, at exit 15 (413 534-3311) and are located near to the start in Holyoke.

Restaurants

There are a variety of restaurants along Route 5 from West Springfield to Holyoke.
For the traditional carbo-loading, we suggest Red Rose Pizzeria, 1074 Main St., Springfield, Pizzeria Uno at the Holyoke Mall (exit 15 rte 91, JP's, and Cracker Barrel on Whiting Farm Rd off of Rt 91 Exit 15.
