The weather couldn't have been more agreeable. A crisp 40 degrees on an early December morning. Perfect for running.
Even warmer was the atmosphere as friends old and new converged onto the Forest Park Porter Lake Skate House for another season of
the Snowstorm Classic Winter series.
And what better way to kick off a new season than with a new winner. Glen Meisenhelder
led the way around the 5K course in an efficient 18:58.
The 44 year old lead the Empire One Running Club to a team lead by a convincing combined time of nearly 15 minutes.
On the women's side, Jessica Smith impressed again with a 20:04 (4th overall) and her 6th Snowstorm title.
Jessica now sits tied at 6th for Most Wins.
Lyn Walker just won't stop! Way back in 2006 Lyn set a new mark for age 65 and has been at it ever since.
Today the 83 years young wunderkind posted a 29:20 for her 19th consecutive age record!
First Greater Springfield Harrier in was Dan McNair (23:13, 15th orvl) which earned the team 2nd.
Hartford Track Club rounded out the top 3 led by Kevin Tranberg (24:42, 24th ovrl)
Note for Week#2: I'll be off to Tallahasee, FL as a last minute substitution to complete our Men's 50 team at the USATF National Club Championships.
Iwona, Pete & company will be doing the race timing old-school.
